IKOU POLICY

Version 1.0.0 (Effective date: April 1st, 2018)

Thank you for your interest in using Ikou, an app to easily meetup with friends by sharing location information and still be confident that we are protecting their privacy. Ikou is the product name but also a direct alias to the company owning the software: Pangea.

We value your business and know that your privacy is important to you. We have implemented the following Privacy Policy to inform you about the data we collect, why we collect it, and how we use it in connection with your use of the Ikou app.

  1. This Privacy Policy (the “Policy”) details how Ikou (“we,” “us,” “our”), in both mobile and web platforms (collectively, the “Service”), handles the data of all visitors, users, and others who access the Service (“Users”, "you", "your").
  2. Our Privacy Policy is incorporated as part of our Terms of Service, and is subject to our Terms of Service, so we encourage you to read both documents carefully. By using the Service, you indicate your consent to this Privacy Policy and our Terms of Service. If you do not want to be bound by these agreements, we ask that you please not use the Service.
  3. As part of the Service, Ikou provides a group messaging platform for Users to transmit content privately with other Users of the same group (Event Messages”).

By using the Ikou app, you are accepting this Privacy Policy, as well as the Privacy Policy of Pangea. Ikou is a product offering from Pangea Social Networks LLC.

We take our users privacy very seriously, and are always open to feedback or questions about our Privacy Policy by email at support@ikouapp.com.

1. Information Collected By Ikou

As part of the Service, Ikou collects a variety of information from Users (“User Information”).

Information You Give Us

To use the Service, you are required to register and create a user profile. When you do that, we collect personal information from you, such as your name, email address, birthdate, mobile telephone number, username and profile picture.

Information We Obtain Through Your Use of the Services

We collect different categories of information about how you use the Services.

  • Device Information

We collect device-specific information (such as your hardware model, operating system version, unique device identifiers (e.g., UUID), and mobile network information including phone number and mobile ad ID). We may associate your device-specific identifiers with your Ikou user profile.

  • Log Information
    1. Ikou uses third-party analytical tools to assist in measuring trends and performance of the Service. These analytical tools collect data sent by your device or the Service for the purpose of allowing us to improve the quality of the Service. Analytical data is not associated with individual users and is collected in an anonymous or aggregate nature.
    2. Log file information is automatically generated every time Users use the Service. Log file information includes but is not exclusive to Internet Protocol (“IP”) header data and records of what pages and parts of the Service are used by Users. This information allows Ikou to conduct more accurate reporting in order to improve the Service.
  • Location Information

When you use the Service, we may collect information about your actual approximate physical location (“geolocation”), through the location services of your device. You may use the Service without making geolocation information available to us, by controlling the location services settings of your device. However, if you do not allow Ikou to collect geolocation information, we will not be able to deliver all features of the Service to you.

Event Messages

  • Ikou provides a secure platform for transmission of User Messages between Users of an event. We store messages on private servers. Users who join an event have access to the message history of that event.

Communications with Ikou

  • Ikou allows Users to use an email address to communicate with Ikou regarding the Service (“Support”). If you communicate with Ikou by email, Ikou will collect the email address used by you for such communications. All communications between Users and Ikou may be retained for Support, quality assurance and other analytical purposes. By using the Service, Users consent to receiving Service-related communications from Ikou.

Analytical and Log Information

  • Ikou uses third-party analytical tools to assist in measuring trends and performance of the Service. These analytical tools collect data sent by your device or the Service for the purpose of allowing us to improve the quality of the Service. Analytical data is not associated with individual users and is collected in an anonymous or aggregate nature.
  • Log file information is automatically generated every time Users use the Service. Log file information includes but is not exclusive to Internet Protocol (“IP”) header data and records of what pages and parts of the Service are used by Users. This information allows Ikou to conduct more accurate reporting in order to improve the Service.

Cookies and Device Identifiers

  • When Users use the Service, Ikou may use device identifiers, cookies, or similar technologies to collect information on how Users use the Service.
  • Ikou along with third-party partners may present advertising as part of the Service, and may use this information.
2. How Ikou Uses Your Information

Ikou strives to provide the best user experience possible, while still maintaining the protection of Users’ privacy as our top priority. The primary use of the information we collect and store is to provide an optimal user experience, but there are other uses as well.

Service Optimization

  • Ikou may use your information to optimize the delivery of the Service, including but not limited to efficiently loading and delivering User Content, automatically updating Pangea applications on your device, developing and testing new features and products, and monitoring usage patterns and performance to improve the Service.

Service Personalization and Marketing

  • Ikou may use your information to provide personalized content to you and other Users, which may include advertising or other forms of marketing.
  • Ikou may use your information to provide you with product updates, new products or applications, or promotional offers.

Service Diagnostics

  • Ikou may use your information to diagnose and fix technical issues with the Service, or to generally assist in testing and improving the Service.

Legal Requests and Preventing Harm

  • Ikou will respond to legal requests as required by law in the jurisdictions of its Users. We may also access, preserve and share User Information when we have a good faith belief it is necessary to: detect, prevent and address fraud and other illegal activity; to protect ourselves, our Users and others, including as part of investigations; and to prevent death or imminent bodily harm. User Information may be accessed, processed and retained for an extended period of time when it is the subject of a legal request or obligation, governmental investigation, or investigations concerning possible violations of our terms or policies, or otherwise to prevent harm.
3. How and with Whom Ikou Shares Your Information

Service Delivery Partners

  • Ikou may cooperate with trusted partner companies that assist us in delivering the Service to Users (“Service Delivery Partners”). In the course of this cooperation, we may share User Information with Service Delivery Partners, as necessary to deliver the Service. All processing of User Information by Service Delivery Partners is done pursuant to our instructions and in compliance with this Privacy Policy and other reasonable and appropriate confidentiality and security measures.
  • Ikou may anonymize or aggregate User Information to avoid any unnecessary risk associated with sharing with Service Delivery Partners.

Change of Control

  • In the event of a transfer of part or all of Ikou to a new party in a merger, acquisition, asset sale or other transaction, we will continue to ensure the security and confidentiality of your information pursuant to this policy, and will provide all affected users notice before any personal information is transferred or becomes subject to a different privacy policy.
4. How Ikou Stores Your Information

Storage and Processing

  • User Information collected through the Service may be stored and processed in any country in which Ikou or its Service Delivery Partners maintain facilities.
  • Because of the nature of social networking, User Information is inexorably intertwined and very difficult to isolate. Ikou will strive to protect and isolate User Information to the jurisdiction of Users whenever possible. Nevertheless, User Information may be transferred to, stored and processed in a jurisdiction different from Users and with different privacy and data protection laws.
  • By using the Service, you consent to the transfer to, storage and processing of User Information in any country in which Ikou and its Service Delivery Partners maintain facilities and the use and disclosure of information about you as described in this Privacy Policy.

Data Security

  • Ikou implements security measures to help protect the security of your User Information. We use technological and administrative controls to protect User Information and to provide reasonable safeguards to all User Information stored and processed by the Service. Nevertheless, no app, website or Internet transmission is completely secure. We cannot guarantee that unauthorized access, hacking, data loss, or other breaches will never occur, and we cannot guarantee the security of your information while it is being transmitted to our Service. Any transmission is at your own risk. If you have questions about the security of our websites, please contact us at privacy@ikou.
  • Ikou requires a mobile device and phone number from a Mobile Network Operator (“MNO”) in order to register and use the Service. The mobile device using the phone number used to register for the Service (the “Registered Device”) maintains the ability to access the Service. The Registered Device establishes trust with Ikou by way of a code sent in a text message delivered to the Registered Device via Short Message Service (SMS) (“SMS Verification”). Ikou relies on MNOs for the security of SMS Verification.
  • In order to use the Service on any device other than the Registered Device (e.g., via a Web browser on a personal computer), the Registered Device is required to login by scanning a QR code. Users are encouraged to protect access to their Registered Device by means available on the device (e.g., device passcode or fingerprint scan).

Data Retention

  • How long we retain your User Information depends on why we collected it and how we use it. We will not retain your User Information for longer than is necessary for our legitimate business purposes or for legal requirements. For instance, following deletion of User Information or deletion of a user account with Ikou, we may retain User Information for a commercially reasonable time for backup, archival, and/or audit purposes.
5. How to Access, Update and Manage Your User Information

If you want to review, delete, or change the information Ikou has about you or have additional questions, e-mail us at privacy@ikou.com. We will respond to your request within thirty days.

If you no longer want Ikou to make active use of your information, you may send an e-mail to privacy@ikou.com. Place "Delete My Account" in the subject line and include your first name, last name, e-mail address and your social network ID for the social network from which you access the Service (if applicable) in the body of the e-mail (for example, your Facebook or Pangea user ID). We will respond to your request within thirty days. Please note that certain records, for example those relating to payments or customer service matters, will be held for legal and accounting purposes. If you have sent content through or posted content on the Service, such as event messages, we may not be able to delete it.

6. Children’s Privacy

Ikou is only available for use by users ages 13 or older. We do not knowingly collect or solicit any information from anyone under the age of 13 or knowingly allow such persons to use the Service. The Service and its content are not directed at children under the age of 13. In the event that we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under age 13 without parental consent, we will delete that information as quickly as possible. If you believe that we might have any information from or about a child under 13, please contact us.

7. Accounts of Deceased Users

In the event of the death of an Ikou user, please contact us. Please provide an email address where we can contact you to follow up with the request and request further information if necessary.

8. Changes to our Privacy Policy

Ikou may modify or update this Privacy Policy from time to time, so please review it periodically. We may provide notice to Users of modifications or updates to the Privacy Policy by way of available means of communication as appropriate. Your continued use of the Service after any modification to this Privacy Policy will constitute your acceptance of such modification.
